The 85th Academy Awards, also known as The Oscars aired the evening of February 24, 2013 and it was an evening to celebrate the best of the movie industry and Latinos were very much present and celebrated!
Although I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t see Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez or Penelope Cruz – all of whom have received Best Dressed Honors in the past. I was excited to see Zoe Saldana and Salma Hayek and they did not disappoint!
Actress, Salma Hayek presented and looked regal in a black embellished Alexander McQueen.
Actress, Zoe Saldana, who was a presenter, chose a lesser known Parisian designer Alexis Mabille Couture. She paired the gorgeous black, white and gray gown with Roger Vivier shoes, Salvatore Ferragamo clutch and, of course – Neil Lane jewels! Zoe looked stunning!
I also wanted to mention that actress, Amy Adams looked beautiful and although she is not Latina, it goes without saying that the designer of her dress, Oscar de la Renta – IS!
Among the lucky few Hispanics nominated in different categories by the Academy were costume designer Paco Delgado nominated as “Best Costume” for his elaborated attires in the musical “Les Miserables”, Mexican Jose Antonio García, nominated in the category of “Best Sound” for his work on “Argo.”
At the time of this writing, Chilean Claudio Miranda, won an Oscar for “Best Photography” for “Life of Pi” and “Inocente” also won an Oscar for Documentary Short Subject!
And last, but certainly not least – on the stage presenting winners with their Oscars was Abe Diaz who was a “The Oscar® Experience College Search” winner of the Academy of Motion Pictures! Congratulations Abe – we can’t wait to see you up there getting YOUR Oscar someday!
